Its hardly Alistair Cooke or AJP Taylor but the rarity of a full 5 minutes of prime time TV being filled with a middle aged man simply talking straight to camera with *nothing* else, had me reeling slightly. There’s a strange graphic of the red box opening and closing this annual tradition but the simplicity of this tv throwback feels, unlike the faux authenticity of your webcamerons, as modern as the torrent of clips now pouring from seesmic, qik and the other new video messaging services on the bloc.

And no I didn’t count how many times he said the word; stability.

    And he’s actually quite good isn’t he? I mean he’s acquiring gravitas by the day.
