Later Live

Ah. BBC2 again. I’m glad this has gone live. Jools Holland always felt like the most live of un-live things on telly, but it really changes things - more than I’d have thought. I haven’t had such a frisson from the box for anything (other than The Wire, obviously) for ages, and this dished frisson out by the spade. (Although come to think of it it’s not going to be live for anyone finding it here, strictly.) Not only that, but if you’re not careful - and if you’re a fan of course - it’s possible James Taylor might bring a tear or two to the old eye. Other things to note, the much more sociable scheduling is an excellent move. And for the first live episode there seemed to be a funny pattern of names ending in el for some reason. Which worked, so I’m not complaining.

A great start to the new series, i was luckily enough to be in the studio, the ‘live’ part of the show was the best, real ‘edge of your seat’ television. Jools was on top form, we need more ‘Laters…’ style shows on TV, keeping it real!

I love watching Later, especially now there’s two shows a week! Even though the performers are the same, their re-performances are slightly different, plus with additional stuff added to the Friday extended show. There’s nothing better than going to the pub on a Friday night, grabbing a kebab to go home with and crashing on the sofa in front of Jools and his guest’s. My only gripe is that the live show should be longer…it’s all over far far too quickly!
