Black Power Salute
It’s hard to imagine an equivalent act or image nowadays so simple yet so powerful that would rival Olympic medal winners Tommie Smith and John Carlos’s gloved clenched fists, raised in support of the Black Panther movement during the Star Spangled Banner at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. The story of the lead up and aftermath of this act of rebellion and defiance.
It would be probably a good idea to also tell the other side to the story about the Black Power Salute.
The Producers of this film contacted me (THE NEPHEW OF PETER NORMAN) saying they were from BBC and were looking to buy my film which actually is the only film ever made with all three men. The producers took under a year to make this film. The real and only true film of this event comes out in CINEMA’S on the 17th of July here in Australia through Paramount Pictures.
Shame on Tiger Lilly Pictures for attempting to steal the work I have put in for over 6 years into this program, Shame on the Producer of this film for lying and deceiving us to try and get the real story. I have asked for a copy of this film from them as we believe they have also stolen footage that I paid nearly $800,000 for.
As I understand it, this is just another film like “Fists of Freedom” that tells a one sided story. There was three men on that dais not one. If the people of the UK want to see the true story and not the one made up by the producers of Tiger Lilly films UK then wait. I’ll be coming to the UK soon as we are negotiating the theatrical release of the film there soon.
Tiger Lilly films have lied and deceived me and put a film out during the same week my cinematic film comes out through Paramount Pictures to try and get in early. I spent 6 years making this film, losing my house in the process as well as my Uncle Peter Norman. The producer of this film knew all of this as I spoke regularly on the phone with her as she was telling me that she wanted to acquire the rights for BBC NOT steal the film to use as research. I am appalled by this women’s actions to get a story out before something that has been a life time for me and for what???? Greed.
It needs to be made very clear….. The story that Tiger Lilly Films have had bought by BBC is certainly not the true story. You see you need to have the people that were actually there for the true story. SALUTE (www.salutethemovie.com) is the only film EVER to sit Tommie, John and Peter Norman down as well as others of the 68 team to find out what really happened. Not just one persons thoughts.
“I’m asking the IOC are they embarassed by the fact that they gave the games to China and that China hasn’t kept any of its promises about human rights?” C4 news’s Alex Thomson asks that question (again and again and again):
