Britain from Above ticks all the normal watchification boxes - documentary / cities / helicopters / visualisation / shipping containers / Andrew Marr - and it was an interesting documentary (especially in HD), but what’s really exciting are all the spinoffs, on both TV and the web. In fact, the blistering speed of the main programme seems to be an advert for all the other ways of interacting with the series.

The website contains many clips and background information, including the maps themselves, they’ll be adding videos to their youtube channel, and there’s some great photography as well. The BBC Archive (which I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know existed until now) has pulled together other examples of aerial broadcasting from the last 60 years.

    Haven’t seen it yet, but will watch it forthwith. Hopefully it’s as good as this version from 1969 with the mighty John Betjeman :
