Whilst it hits all the cliches you’d expect – Paxman down a sewer, telling Bazalgette’s story – there’s a heady mix of architecture, art, literature and social realism presented to explain who the Victorians really were. As it’s in HD, too, there’s lots of sweeping shots and helicopters, a la Britain From Above.
First there was Speechification, which is a lot of excellent speech radio from around the world wrapped up in a podcast. Now there’s Watchification. We’re selecting the really good stuff from the BBC iPlayer, from the shows that appear on YouTube and - you never know - maybe some other TV too. We’ve rounded up over a dozen interesting people to make the selections and we’re always very keen to hear your suggestions for good stuff that we might have missed. As they say, watch this space.
